You could improve this utility by having it accept multiple parameter at once (e.g. -ef instead of -e -f) and by declaring $file to avoid the warning on the function in line 71 when using standard input. Nicely done anyway, you have my gratitude as I could not find anything similar around.

Seriously, why haven't apple or the case manufacturers figured this out yet? More to the point, why aren't apple consumers demanding it en masse?? I think there is one case maker that actually is including compatible dock adapters with their cases. This is common sense. It's a selling point for cases, it's a selling point for docks. The cost of such an initiative would be nominal (these adapters cost pennies to make) - infinitessimal compared to the margins iPhone cases rake in. Apple vets all products that brandish the "made for iPhone" label...so why don't they require manufacturers include compatible dock adapter as a condition of approval? This would SELL docks: it's a no-brainer. And what excuse do companies that sell docks AND cases have? Their docks aren't compatible with their own cases! They're LOSING money!

You're 100% right when you say that the dock without the adapter doesn't provide enough support for the phone. By slapping it's "made for iPhone" approval on case that are incompatible with the universal dock, apple is encouraging it's consumers to either NOT purchase a universal dock, or to use the dock incorrectly and damage the phone, resulting in AppleCare repairs and replacements. This costs Apple $$$. Why haven't they figured this out yet???

(All the same applies to iPod accessories with the "made for iPod" label.)

I agree with everything you've said here. It would be wonderful to be able to program my DVR box using my iPhone.

And I'd add 1 more feature on top of that - the ability to pay my bill with the app too.

I have had the same problems calibrating my Nike App. Much as I'd like to believe I can run 5k in 26 minutes, it just isn't true. Are you saying that you just went out and bought another sensor - and this time it just happened to work? Isn't that rather random?

I have been using the altec lansing backbeat 903 with my 3gs. They work great for running with music so far, lets see if my sweet kills them over time.
Tried it once with the nike+ and it didn't work. It seemed like it did not want to have both the headset and the sensor working at the sametime. I will try again tonight. BTW you don't need nike+ shoes necessarily. You and get one of those mini velcro holders that attach to your shoe laces just for this purpose.

Try some stereo Bluetooth headphones that explicitly support EDR and see if that helps. If they have EDR, they'll use less bandwidth and hopefully will collide less with the Nike+.

Fantastic! I was looking for a solution to do exactly this for the better part of the evening - I've found I don't know how many ways to url-encode utf8 text, but this seems to be one of the few standalone decode/encode tools. Great work.

It runs without modification on Ubuntu 8.04 with the standard LAMP stack installed.

Douglas,
Are you referring to downloading from within your iPhone's iTunes music store? The link in my blog will launch iTunes music store directly to Pandora. From there you can download the app and sync it to your iPhone. Alternatively, you could open the iTunes store from within your iPhone and search for Pandora, a quick triple tap and it should download.

If you have iTunes installed on your computer, and clicking the link above does nothing, then your computer is not processing iTunes links properly (might try an iTunes reinstall). Don't forget you can search iTunes store for Pandora you don't need a link.

I'm not sure if you are from outside the US. If so Pandora may only be appearing to US iTunes customers. And none of the above will work.

If you are on Twitter hit up @pandora_radio Lucia, is very helpful.

I love to get Pandor radio on my Iphone, but I can't figure out how to get it on the Iphone first, there are virtualy no simple buttons to push and i can see nothing that say step, one, step two, step three...I mean sheesh how do you get the application? everytime I click what looks like the download it snaps me back to the site...so how the heck do I get it to my phone to start using it?

I'm at a loss, and I can't possible be the only one. There is just no indication how to do it.
