You're 100% right when you say that the dock without the adapter doesn't provide enough support for the phone. By slapping it's "made for iPhone" approval on case that are incompatible with the universal dock, apple is encouraging it's consumers to either NOT purchase a universal dock, or to use the dock incorrectly and damage the phone, resulting in AppleCare repairs and replacements. This costs Apple $$$. Why haven't they figured this out yet??? (All the same applies to iPod accessories with the "made for iPod" label.) You’re 100% right when you say that the dock without the adapter doesn’t provide enough support for the phone.
